I just got my v5 recently, got the hacked v5 bios from BADFLASH, tossed in a 3 gig IBM hard drive, picked up a 128 MB SODIMM at Compusa for 10 bucks after rebate (not bad!) and tossed WIN98SE on the drive - so far, I'm quite impressed, this is serving my needs quite well (I'm a graphic artist, so this lets me show off what I can do to potential clients - take it with me, do a quick edit, show them the result after lunch, that type thing) anyway, the only thing I cannot seem to get working is sound. I have tried the yamaha drivers, no result, then read somewhere that the v5 board runs an AD1881 chipset for audio - tried 4 different sets of drivers, none worked (SoundMAX AD1881?)I opened it back up tonight, and where the pics on the main page show the yamaha chip, there's a place for it, traes, solder pads, but no chip at all. What chip does this use? Win98SE IS detecting a PCI Multimedia Device, but I've NO idea what it is... any help?

AWESOME! You absolutely ROCK! I had looked EVERYWHERE (except ViaArena it seems - I had gone to VIA's main (other?) site and tried the 4 in 1 driver, but the link you gave me had the perfect driver for the AC97 controller - the one I had previously didn't work, I'm installing Winamp now so I can get some tunes up and running! WOOHOO!!! Thanks a million! (this will make a great car video device... now to add a preamp line out jack... heh heh... Thanks again!

Did you try any of the older ones listed further down the page? "Older versions of the 4in1s. For people having issues with the latest drivers on older chipsets"

I hope you get this working, I just got a V5 and beginging to hack it myself. I keep finding posts saying that it doesn't work under windows. :(

I have ME installed on mine. All I had to do when installing the sound driver was tell it to find the appropiate driver on the web. Went right to it.
