What you need for Windows

Been getting a lot of requests, figured I'd post some fresh links. The older ones seem to be stale. Now that we have a bunch of IO's to ship the support needs to be updated.
Normal drivers are here:
http://www.viaarena.com/?PageID=2
Use the ones with the note:
"Older versions of the 4in1s. For people having issues with the latest drivers on older chipsets. Also provides uninstall facility if you are having problems installing new drivers on top of these older drivers, then run the appropriate old ones first and select the uninstall option." Pick your poison. I didn't have any problems with the V4.28, but others have tried later ones.

The 68mu files are used for the V5 sound driver "Older version of the VT686A/B and VT8321 audio driver "

The cyberblade video driver I used was http://www.linux-hacker.net/downloads/cyberblade-i7.zip

The modem drivers are at http://www.actiontec.com/support/modems/cwe.html

When you get the IDE driver installed, be sure you go into the driver in the device mangler and set it for just a single IDE channel or you'll get conflicts.

I'm guessing that the correct modem drivers would be the CWMDM170.EXE and CWMDMW2K.EXE depending on which Win OS your installing. How are these different from the standard drivers installed by Windows? Is it just that these add the Call Waiting feature? Also, is there any reason to upgrade the firmware using the ECW907FA1.EXE?
I'm installing win98 on a system for a friend and had not thought about updating the drivers as the standard ones always worked fine.

Do not update the modem firmware under any circumstances, unless you want to render your modem completely useless. The firmware is proprietary to the I-Opener; there are no updates; ActionTec does not support it. Plenty of folks found out the hard way, back when the machines were relatively new. Unless things have changed drastically, don't mess with the modem. To the best of my knowledge, the ActionTec drivers don't offer any enhancements over the standard 56k driver.

Do not update the firmware! It will kill the modem.
I have no answer to the other questions directly not having experience with both. I know the windows driver works, but the call strings are limited. I did not have enough room to put in a calling card number and the proper wait strings to connect. No problems from home.
