They are the Box-USB. Can run HDDs and CD-ROM's. $79 a piece.
Also, a USB Floppy.. powered by the USB port itself. $44 a piece.

I have both of these products. I opened up the IDE box and the adapter is made by a company called Dura Micro, Inc. They are in Chino, CA and their number is 909-613-1318.

No clue as to the FDD controller.

Are you asserting that with this USB floppy device you are capable of booting off of a floppy disk?

I have a USB Floppy that came with a Sony Vaio. I plugged it into the I-Opener (with V2 Bios) and I can state that it did not boot from this. It was recognized from Win98 (NFP) and if I had loaded the drivers, I'm sure it would have worked.

I think that "boot-from-USB" requires specific device support in the BIOS not just for the device type, but for the particular device as well. For example, I was cheap and bought an after-market CD ROM for the Sony Vaio, it will not boot from this CD ROM, but it will boot a CD from the Sony-brand CD ROM (or so the documentation would lead me to believe).

Yeah. I have a toshiba libretto with PCMCIA Floppy drive, and only the libretto will boot from it (I assume anything else that comes with a Y-E Data floppy drive could boot from said drive too). It requires support in the bios.
