Specs on original Iopener SODIMM

New MessageSpecs on original Iopener SODIMM (modified 0 times) SynSynNak
The SODIMM in one Iopener I examined closely was labeled:

Mosel Vitelic
V43644Y04VCTG
PC100 U 222 612 A

Using data from the Mosel/Vitelic web site.

V43644Y04VCTG translates as:

V = Mosel/Vitelic
4 = SDRAM
3 = 3.3V
64 = Memory Width
4 = Memory Depth
Y = 144 Pin Unbuffered SODIMM x16 Component
0 = Refresh rate 4k
4 = 4 banks
V = LVTTL interface levels
T = TSOP package
G = Gold pins

PC100 U 222 612 A translates as:

PC100 = PC100 (Duh)
U = Unbuffered
2 = Cl 2 Clks
2 = Trcd 2 Clks (row to Column Delay Time)
2 = Trp 2 Clks (row precharge time)
61 = 6.1 nsec Tac ( Access time from clock)
2 = JDEC SPD Revision 2.0
A = Gerber file Intel PC100 x 8 Based (sodimm PCB layout based on the Intel PC100 x8 Spec.)

I called Crucial with the info. in my last post and they said that the:

Mosel Vitelic
V43644Y04VCTG
PC100 U 222 612 A

Was equivlent to a:

Crucial Part Number CT16M64S6W8E
Module Size 128MB
Package 144-pin SODIMM
Feature SDRAM, PC100
Configuration 16Meg x 64
Error Checking Non-parity
Speed 8ns
Voltage 3.3V
Sdram Timings CL=2

Online order (www.crucial.com) price = $116.99

They also said that all of their SODIMMs are "Low Profile"
Ie: capable of fitting in the lower slot of Powerbook.

I will probably order one of these...I will post my results.

SynSynNak,

Good job on cross-referencing the sodimm.

Based on your info, I ordered one last Saturday. It's now here and installed.

The iOpener now reports 127336448 bytes in 'free' under Jailbait v4.

I was able to use the 128 Meg SODIMM which I had purchased from Crucial for my Compaq 1277 in the I-opener. It is a bit larger than the original I-opener SODIMM, but it easily clears the other components.

FYI:
Plugging the parameters of the original Iopener SODIMM into the specifier on the PNY site gave:

pny part # 64815ESWM4G09T as a 64 MByte cross.
pny part # 6416YESWM4G09T as a 128 MByte cross.

Looking at the data sheets, these parts seem correct crosses.

NOTE: It has not been verfied that these parts work.

Other threads have reported PNY parts fit in the space available.

NOTE: At least one post has reported problems with PNY PC66 64MB Sodimms, the above parts are PC100.

I am using both PC100 64mb SODIMM (19162) and 128mb low-profile SODIMM (19164) from The Chip Merchant... I'm have a "Dealer" account, so my prices were lower than those posted and no shipping since I'm local. So generic PC100 SODIMM's will work just fine...

It seems a shame to have to waste the 32MB SODIMM that is already there. Is there a ramstacker device or something like that that allows SODIMM memory to be adapted to use in a desktop PC?

If you look on the motherboard right beneath the SODIMM socket, it looks like it might be possible to mount the memory chips directly on the motherboard.

I guess it all depends on how good your soldering skills are.

No need to waste your 32MB, if you have a laptop just use it there. I bought a 128 for my laptop, put the laptop's 64 in the iopener, and the iopener's 32 in the laptop to give it 160.

If you don't have a laptop, maybe you know somebody who does that you could sell it to.

You could sell your 32mb on ebay of course too, they're pretty easy to mail, I got 34$ for mine.

SynSynNak (or anyone else),

Did you verified that Crucial's 128MB CT16M64S6W8E work in the I-Openers? Or the Pony's memory (pny part # 64815ESWM4G09T as a 64 MByte cross; pny part # 6416YESWM4G09T as a 128 MByte cross.)?

Yes, the Crucial 128MB chip works fine. I've had it in mine for about three weeks without any problems
