Requesting help with IR receiver

A little background: I'm adapting the Webplayer into a wall frame, and I'd like to relocate the IR receiver. The problem that I've run into is that looking at the back of the motherboard, with the IR receiver at the top, there's a capacitor connecting the left two pins, and a small wire running from those pins to a resistor at RN9 (about an inch directly below the IR pins). My main question is whether this is supposed to be like this (doubtful, but I've seen similar work in thin clients), or if this is something the previous owner did, maybe scratched a trace on the board and did a quick fix. Would it be possible for somebody to check out their board, and maybe snap a close-up of the area for me to compare with? I'd appreciate any help possible on this.

Webplayer:

Top

Bottom

I might be able to get a closeup, if no one else has them available already.

Thanks, but I've already seen those. They're really not high-res or zoomed-in enough to be useful in this instance, and the red line for the Super I/O chip obscures part of the area I need to see anyway. If you could take a closeup, that'd be great, basically the area below the DOC and left of VRAM chip #2 in relation to the backside photo.

You could also buy a USB IR receiver. See

Do you have an e-mail address I could send it to?

Comcast still hasn't switched ATTBI customers over to their new webstorage system, so I'm SOL for someplace to make them available.

Kudzu - please send it to sysinfo42@mchsi.com

I appreciate you taking the time to help with this, hopefully I just need to do a little soldering to get it working again.

YGM.

The scanned image is 657kb, and should provide sufficient detail.
