I must have goofed up DOC
DOC image disappeared & now formatted blank

Please help!
For some reason (most likely the Windows scandisk) my DOC image got wiped out. I got the dformat program and tried to recover the image but it wasn't there. I figured I might as well install a new version of Windows rather than use a DOC image. BIG MISTAKES MADE. I dformatted the DOC and made it the startable drive on the Webplayer. It required a restart in order to accept a DOS drive letter for installing Windows (from a hard drive). But when I rebooted, it naturally could not find an operating system because none exists on the DOC; I can' get it to boot to the hard drive despite changing the boot order.

How can I clear the DOC to start over with an existing DOC image?

I have learned not to try to install Windows myself. Please help, I still want the DOC installed and usable as the boot drive.

Man - I don't know if you made that web site - or if someone else did - but it rocks! I love your website - very very helpful. That serial port schematic will be very helpful - I had been having alot of trouble with serial devices - and that explains it perfectly.

Thanks. Informative site.

I know that I can no longer fix this DOC using the software.

I see something that looks like a reset (RSTN# -- pin 1). Would that do it? Or the chip enable pin (CE -- pin 2). Or something along these lines. Would I ground any of these? or disconnect them?

Well, it is fixed!
M-Sytems finally got back to me with a simple solution -- press Ctrl+Alt+B to bypass the DOC driver load, as the reply states:
"Try using CNTRL-ALT-B prior to the DOC signon messages to prevent the
firmware from loading. You may have to enter this key configuration several
times for the system to register (usually starting after the memory check)"

Worked like a charm allowing the Webplayer to boot the HD ready for the correct dformat command. Much simpler solution than what I had feared.
