Ok.. I've wrestled with this problem for months.

I've found working sound/video drivers for W2k and the webplayer.

The driver install file needs to be modified slightly for video.

if anybody's interested in these drivers, email me - root(at)jydlinux.net
My webplayer is now running win2k, with complete sound and 800x600 16 bit video!

That's awesome man. What kind of NIC are you using? I would be very, very interested in the drivers. My E-mail address is nleahcim at attbi dot com. How does it run? Is it pretty fast? That is simply awesome news man - like music to my ears!

It runs rather decently.. Not as slow as I thought.

I am using a linksys usb10t nic.

I'll package the drivers together and send them out in a bit.

I've put the webplayer aside for a bit - work has been *EXTREMLEY* hectic, plus I've been busy setting up exchange on one of my servers.

I am going to (eventually) get around to reloading win2k, but it is working ok..

Hi,

I finally got around to loading win2k back on to this thing. drive is formatted NTFS.
network access is still as stable as 98

I still don't have a solution to the power problem, but everything else works.. (except for the DEL key on my keyboard - I need a new kb now.

So - did you try loading the power drivers and they didn't work? Or are you afraid to since they were written for windows 98?

Hi,

I've had my webplayer running for a while now, with win2k. The only thing I have yet to resolve is the power. Apparently, Win2k will not allow a standby unless the device has a composite battery, or the device supports ACPI, which the webplayer does not. The hard drive does go into standby, the screen blanks, but the backlight does not turn off.. the power driver is for 9x only.

Any way of forcing win2k to standby without a composite battery, or should I just hardwire a switch to turn off the inverter.

well i installed XP on my webplayer and amazingly the Windows XP Standard VGA driver will run the webplayer at 800x600 @ 16bit color... its a bit laggy but once you turn off all the visual effects its quite usable...

when i tried to install the drivers that were posted here it would crash horribly at boot... just showing weird blue things all over the center of the screen...

i also found updated GX drivers that were 2k/xp and they did something similar at boot... filling up the screen with weird blue things everywhere...

the sound drivers seemed to install ok, but i havent actually tested the sound yet

ok update, i uninstalled the video drivers in safe mode and its working again with the defualt VGA XP driver...

sound drivers installed correctly, still have to mute the line in..

sound lags horribly and stutters... completely unplayable :(

also whenever there is sound (hardly) playing the system comes down to its knees, its like -sloooow- so im thinking it may be driver issues?

i have mine clocked stable @ 233 and it ran quicktime and even Warcraft II w/o problems in 98 =\

Thanks for the drivers. I installed Win2k and it actually runs OK with 128MB of RAM.

The sound and video seem to work OK, but MP3 playback is terrible. It stutters badly and isn't usable.

Anyone gotten good MP3 playback under Win2k?
