Power to Hard Drive

Although I've played around with computers somewhat, I've never built a "frankenbox." That being said, I have a few questions.

First off, how does one get power to the 2.5" hard drive? Is it powered by the IDE ribbon? Is there a spare slot on the MB or will I have to get an exteral P/S?

Secondly, can I format the HD with my IBM ThinkPad or does the interfaces differ to the extent that I will have to get a 3.5" converter and mate it to my main box?

Finally, how can I install Win 98 in such a way as to include all drivers so that I won't get the "new device found, please insert CD-ROM in Drive x" message when it fires up for the first time?

A lenghty list of questions, I know, but thanks in advance for answers.

The 44 pin ide cable supplies the power. Standard IDE is 40 pin.
You will need an adapter to put it in your desktop PC and format it that way. If you put it in a laptop to format it and copy the OS and other files you can use its native cable.

It doesn't require the flipped cable like the I-opener. Normal straight through.

Copy the Win98 folder from CD to the drive and in separate folders put the unzipped drivers. e.g. c:\sound, c:\video, c:\usb, etc. Keep in mind that the drive will probably be the D:\ drive while in your other PC or laptop unless you boot to a floppy and have it as the master. This may actually be the easiest since you have to make the drive bootable/active in fdisk.

None of this is for the total newbie or your grandmother.

Obviously, you're a retard. Wait until one of us gets around to writing a Virgin hacking FAQ. Then do the hack.
