You can take the keyboard controller out of a Websurfer and solder a standard PS/2 cable onto it. Search for the pin out, I know it's around here somewhere....

You're better off looking for an IR keyboard out there. However, if you're attached to the WebPlayer's keyboard, Sejin's the supplier for the part in question and you might be able to get them to sell you the matching IR backend for it since it's a custom silk-screened keycap version of the SPR-8696WT or SPR-8696WS Freeboard models. It'd be certainly easier to do that than trying to rig up the OEM module off of the WebPlayer.
