You mean "stylus" (pen for use with tablet/touchscreen), right? If the auction actually describes it as "with stylist", I'm not sure what that's about. Actually, on Ebay, "with stylus" might just mean a Webplayer and a stylus, but no way to use them together. Regardless...

I've been playing around with these since the original VirginConnect offer, and own a few different versions of the Webplayer (my original, plus a couple from auctions/sales after VirginConnect collapsed). I haven't heard of anyone putting a touchscreen in theirs, and am not aware of any with touchscreen from the factory. Every Webplayer I own has the original Hitachi SX25S004 LCD.

It's possible that this owner added one on his/her own. The LCD panel hookup is reasonably straightforward, and the Webplayer does have a header on the MB for serial port and USB ports on the back, so it shouldn't be impossible to add a touchscreen overlay or swap out the panel. Any drivers, etc. would be specific to whatever hardware they used, though. Maybe post a question in the auction, asking the seller exactly what they're offering?

There were at least a few engineering eval units that Acer, the company that made the Webplayer for
Virgin, had handed out later on in their quest to try and make the devices something that could
be sold to people. I know, I've sold a few on ebaY in the past and still have a handful of them in
my possession (You'd be surprised at what lurks about in your storage being the CTO of a company
while you're waiting for funding for a new project... I've got quite a few IA type machines- some
of them still worth messing with, like the WebPlayer, some not so hot now that VIA's got those micro
EPIA machines based off of their EDEN platform that can actually DO something...). To my knowledge,
nobody put touch panels in the units out there- Acer'd toyed with the idea and they'd coupled some
nifty double-sided styli in the case moldings (which is what we're very probably talking about here)
but they never got past the showing that it could be done and what it'd look mechanically stage...

A few months ago there was someone selling about 30 of these on ebay. They looked just like the normal webplayer, except they had a touch screen. The seller had no clue what they were or were they came from. I almost bought one but decided I couldn't handle a 200mhz Geode any more...

Could anyone have handled a Geode except for a narrow range of apps in the first place?

The touchscreens are a new one on me. I've still got a few ACER engineering evals in my possession
of which I think I'll put one of them into service as a light-duty wireless media player/web surfing
device. I wouldn't mind having one of the touch-screen units in my possession- if anyone knows of
someone willing to part with one of theirs, ping me here...
