Real audio performance
poor buffering in real audio

New MessageReal audio performance (modified 0 times) TrevorG242
Like a good little captive advertising unit, the first thing I tried to do with my Virgin WebPlayer was to try an listen to real audio files from the Virgin megastore site. Every singe one I try buffers, starts playing and then stops after a few secs buffers again and then finishes the songs sample. It's probably just my local prodigy number.
During this experiment. I noticed that the volume dial doesn't seem to have a gently volume curve. It doesn't get very loud, then while turning it down it seems to stay at one level and then drop off sharply.

FYI:

The comment that RealAudio BUFFERS ..than plays ...BUFFERS than plays! That would be expected with LIMITED (RAM)!

It is bufferd into your computers RAM ...I doubt your ISP is the problem!

Prodigy "is suck"

For hours last weekend, I got NOTHING after dialing my connect site. No busy, no circuit busy- just dead air (I did try dialing with a phone in case it was the player, but same thing- it was Prodigy that was hosed).

Prodigy performance is the pits... I hope Virgin can get them to add bandwidth to support them or I won't be able to see my 10 hrs of Virgin ads a month... LOL

Oddly enough the same files that I had trouble playing when I started the thread now play fine. Virgin just seemed to have massive problems with their site. One of my co-workers has been playing internet radio stations without problem or interuption.

Does anyone have a contact number for Virgins website? The one listed on their page 877-484-7446 is not working. Thanks

Ok, I found the Virgin Connect number you'll never guess where they hid it.

Don't need USB speakers. Run a wire from the earphone jack to your amp (or speakers) and get excellent results.

Virgin hangs up every three hours. That's my only gripe.
