Questions about adding other drives
more than 1 hard drive? CD-rom

Does anyone know about the possiblity of attaching more than one ide drive. The bios supports the standard 2 channels with 2 drives per channel. Since there is one one ide header, I'm guessing that only the eprimary channel is available. Is is possible to put 2 drive on the one cable? Would it be possible to put a notebook CD-Rom on the cable with a hard drive? if so, is it just a matter of adding another connector to the cable? Maybe getting a custom cable from Badflash?
How does the DOC fit in, where does it appear in the IDE channel arrangement? (Mine's busted so I can't figure it out till my second WP arrives in the new year.

I have talked to bad flash about this and he can make 2 connector cables. The only thing is master, slave config. I have been looking for a sutiable laptop drive and have not found one. So far I have tried all the new dells and some gateway drives, it looks like they are all the same with the connector. I belive that they are a normal ide drive but the connector is not a normal ide by any means, It is a trapazoid shape and has pins around the inside of the connector all laptops have a small board that plugs this connector into the prop. connector for the individual laptop.

The trapezoidal connector is proprietary to your laptop. If you take apart the drive sled or housing you will see that the connector has another end which connects to the actual drive. The drive's connector is a 44 pin IDE cable.

To connect the drive to the WebPlayer, you need a 44 to 44 IDE connector. You coudl also use a standard IDE drive, which has a 40 pin connector, with an adapter. But, a standard drive is kind of big to fit in the WebPlayer case, so a 2.5" laptop drive is better.

You can get laptop drives on eBay cheap. I paid 42 bucks for a 2.1 gig Seagate new with a warranty. You can get 6 gig drives brand new for under $150.
