BIOS reset
Is there any way to completely reset the BIOS?

I recently bought a used WebPlayer. I unboxed it, turned it on and immediately tried to get into the BIOS. No dice.

I pressed (what should be) F2 and got the "Entering Setup" prompt for password. I tried the "schwasck" password many, many times along with some other passwords the previous owner thought might work to no avail. I kept getting the "System Disabled" message after failing three times.

I find this particularly odd because I am unable to disable and or change the BIOS password on the other WP I have. I would figure that the same would apply to this one.

I'd like to simply get the thing completely reset. I tried shorting JP1 on the MB (labled "HW RESET". It didn't seem to do anything except a conventional power off / power on.

Any thoughts? If I cannot ever get to the BIOS, would it still be possible to flash the DOC on my other WP, install it in this one and run, say, Win98?

Thanks for your help.

Try toggling NumLock or CapsLock on your keyboard.

Strange - I was able to change the BIOS psswrd on the first try. I put in a psswrd that I can remember without having to look at the spelling of it. I did it in the set up panel, I think it was "administrator password" or something similar. This wont help you past your problem - but I read in another post that removing and replacing the battery reset the password to factory default. Try it...
