Stuck on the "preparing for the Internet" at boot
Possible bad DOC

Hi everyone.

I'm having no luck with my webplayer. On power up, it boots to the "preparing for the Internet" message, then a click, then nothing. Just locked up.

From previous threads, I believe this is signals a bad DOC.

I've tried:

Installing formatted HD
Removing DOC
removing battery (bios clear)
ALT-CTL-DEL (nicely reboots the box, but same result)
CTL-Music (no access to setup)

MUST you have a DOC installed to access the BIOS setup screen?

Do you think a re-programming of my DOC may resolve my problem?

Are new DOC's available?

The only reason I need a DOC is to access the bios setup long enough to enable HD booting, right?

ARG! Any ideas?

UPDATE -

I got in the bios by pressing F2 (book) right at power up. Duh! I was following the CTL-MUSIC choice, getting no where.

So, Now I can get in the bios, and recognise one of my HDs, after enabling the IDE controller.

Nice.. now I can see the boot screens as well.

I am running with the DOC out, as I think it's toast anyway.

Now to get that HD booting.

Would you be willing to send your doc to me so I can take a look at it? I am in need of another doc, I want to put it on my WebSURFER.
