i'm having a bit of trouble setting up my webplayer. i recently got a 3.2gb hd. when i format it only comes up as a 503.47mb drive. but i think i know why. i tried to copy the win98 file, cab files from the cd to the hd. i did it, i think i did it right. then i installed it in the webplayer and went through the bios and set it up. i can get to the dos prompt, and then i am stuck on what to do. i'm not sure if i'm copying the right files from the win98 cd. please post and copy commands that i should be using and what are all the files i need. thanks

When you say"i can get to the dos prompt" Do you mean you installed DOS first, or all you can do is get to DOS and not load windows? If you installed DOS, it has size(MB) limitations.

When you copied the files you did this right?:
copy X:\win98\*.* Y:\win98\*.* [x:cd-rom, y:Laptop drive]

* I did it a simple way: I just copyied the disc in its entirity thru windows. Copy Paste.

When you at at DOS type:
fdisk

See if you have any partitions set up on the drive you dont know about.

hopefully you already copied the drivers you will need (audio, video, udma) onto the hard drive before you put it in the webplayer. if not, you are gonna need to pull it back out and copy the files from your desktop machine or wherever. here is a link to all the drivers you need in a handy zip file:

http://www.larwe.com/techref/download/webplayer_win9x_drivers.zip

Dont forget to copy your NIC drivers as well, then once you get that running, you can get anything else you need from the network or the internet.
