I'm guessing you need the whole power supply and not just the cord from the supply to outlet. The info on my supply:

Delta Electronics, Inc.
AC Adapter ADP-25EB
Input: 100-240V-1.0A
50-60Hz
Output: 5V 5A (positive inner contact, negative outer contact)

This is a computer grade adapter. I'm not sure of the diameter of the connector to the WebPlayer, since it is connected to the WebPlayer as I type.

Hope this helps.

Thanks for the reply... it wasn't in my box of adapters... does anyone have a picture posted of the power cord? Anyone know where I could readily find a power adapter for this device? I have seen posts for running in a car.. I just need to run it from a outlet in my house...

Thanks!

Daves,

I bought my Webplayer off Ebay and it didn't have a supply.

I trundled off to my local Rat Shack and bought their 'Digital Camera' PSU unit. It has a switchable 3,4.5,5 and 6V out (about 2.5amps I think)

I also had to buy a different adaptor 'head' to fit into the back of the unit. They are all on the wall with the plug in PSU's anyway. Take your player in with you, as they have one of each type on a cord so you can try and get the best fit.

Rat Shack is actually handy sometimes!

Cheers,

Has anyone considered using a slightly larger power supply? I've been doing a lot of reading on this BBS, and it seems that USB is sometimes "flaky," especially if the USB device uses lots of juice. I really want to use a USB-to-Ethernet adapter, but I'm also considering adding an internal laptop hard drive, too.

I've not yet received my webplayer yet... I'm one of those lucky coop members that should have just bought one off of ebay... but anyway. I've already ordered the 44-pin IDE cable, CTG (Cables To Go) USB To Ethernet Adapter 10/100 off of tigerdirect.com, and found an old 9mm hard drive. I'm really looking forward to using it as an mp3 player.

If anyone has any thoughts on adding a larger power supply for stability, please reply! Thank you.

I thought the Webplayer without any options takes about 2 amps at boot.
I measured it only ones but I had a bad set of wires so I lost too much voltage and it didn't boot
all the time. I'll have to wait until I get a new mainboard to make better measurements.
Anyway, my thought is the included adapter with max 5 amps is a bit overdimensioned, so it should
take USB and a harddrive very well. But if you want there are larger PSU's available.
RSI for example is a source where you can find a lot of psu's.

Hey K-Ray, I've been to your site and I think it's excellent! Any luck on the VGA connector yet?

If you're able to provide any more detailed info on the power usage, that would be a great help. If it turns out that a larger power supply is warranted, I'm wondering what would be TOO large... I don't want to fry the unit.

Keep up the great work!

Frogking,

The site is update with some detailed info on the power usage.

About a power supply that would be too large: can't be.
If the supply is 5V and can give at least 2A it will work if you haven't got any peripherals connected.
Any thing more gives you more possibilities. So it is not so that if you connect a 10A supply you are going to
blow up your webplayer. It will still only take about 2-3Amps.
However, you have to check the spec for the voltage , because that should be a very stable 5V. The supply voltage
is directly connected to the on board chips so an unstable voltage can cause problems.
