problem with network card

If you keep up with this forum you should know I'm in progress of connecting a normal pci-nic to the wp.
I actually managed to connect it (see full story on my site) but I have some problems.

Facts:
nic green light goes on when booting wp. Also the green LED on the hub turns on.
When the win98 splash screen comes up the lights go out.

When starting in dos mode the light stays on.

Windows detects nic and everything seems ok after install of drivers but in fact it doesn't work.

When starting the setup utility for the nic it reports no LAN board found.

Curious isn't it?
I can check with another card but that does mean resoldering 50 wires at least and I don't like doing that
now.

Anybody have any ideas????

Well I would think that it would be a connection issue, becasue the light at first is probably the card checking itself on powerup. Then when windows trys to control it, (splash screen) something is not right so windows quits.

but then how do you explain the fact windows does recognize the card?
I was able to install it and checking the device manager it reports that everything is ok.

It's going to be very hard to find this problem since I don't have detailed knowledge on the
pci-signal protocol.

may The Force be with me ;)
