I have taken out every screw that I can see except the star shaped one in the back and I still can't get it all the way open.

Did you take the two rubber plugs on the back of the unit out? There are screws underneath.

the torx (star shaped) screw is only the lid for replacing the DOC.
As already been told you need to remove the two rubber plugs.
