I have the Win98lite image with IE 5.5 all on DOC and USB mouse. Everything is running very smoothly, yet I want more. Please tell me the best way to make the webplayer wireless. I am not very knowledgeable in this area, so please describe in beginner terms. I have read many threads about warplink, etc., but there does not seem to be a concensus on the matter. I would like to somehow use the cable modem connection on my PC. Thanks to everyone.

I have both the webplayer running win 98 and the warplink usb...the warplink driver seems flakey and will crash when trying to display a directory full of mp3's from the host machine which is running win 2000. Have not gotten it to work running off the doc image win 98 lite...will try again after I install a 10 gig HD in the player and setup win ME on it.

My setup with the D-Link USB works fine. It stopped working randomly until I took out the onboard modem for which I have no use.
Been fine ever since.
I installed ME to benefit from the advanced sleep options, but have found that ME slows down to a crawl when browsing files over the network, unlike Win98 !

If your network is slowing to a crawl when browsing ensure that you have enabled the netbuei protocol and made it the default protocol..it's alot faster then tcp/ip for local networks.

I also have the D-Link USB Wireless Adapter DL-120 and have not had any problems using it. I used it the other day for about 8 hours to listen to internet radio stations and it did not skip a beat.

Microsoft no longer supports (or supplies) NetBEUI as of WinXP. I am trying to decide what operating system/network setup to install on the virgin webplayer with a DLink 802.11b wireless network.
Is the NetBEUI performance gain really noticeable?

Addtron and Hawking have cheaper versions of the USB adapter at $119 vs $149 for DLink. I think they all use the Prism chipset (as opposed to the Lucent one)
