I've loaded all Win98 setup files on old Compaq 2.5", did a sys c:, and still cannot get Webplayer to boot up. After it goes through the boot sequence screens, all I get is a blinking cursor. If I put the HD in my laptop, it boots to the c: just fine. Can someone please help me out here. Am I missing something?
Yeah, the hard drive is recognized in CMOS. The first attempt at installing the HD and rebooting the WebPlayer, I got prompted to "insert the system disk". I then realized I forgot to make the HD bootable, so I went back to the laptop and did a "SYS C:" from a WIN98 Startup disk. Was that right?
Thanks for your reply!
Did you set the partition active? Is there a command.com on it?
You might want to check out http://www.users.intercom.com/~ranish/part/ to see if all the partitions are set up correctly, etc. It's a good tool to have around anyway, more versatile than FDISK.
Thanks for the replies. I finally found an old thread relating to my problem, and after changing a couple of CMOS settings, one being a change from (other) to (dos), I'm up and running. This is a great forum!
