Can you use an old hard drive and not mess with installing windows pics and start up files? I had an acer extensa 390 laptop but its a pile to say the least so i scrapped it for parts and the hard drive is running a full version of 98.

not sure what you're trying to do with that HD.
If your question is can, do you need an image on the DOC then the answer is no.
Just set your HD as primary master and install windows as I doubt it will be very happy with the current install. I tried that and I ended up reinstalling after constant crashes !

Also one more question about the hard drive. How do you go about getting power for the hard drive? Is there an adapter in the webplayer or do you have to buy another power suply

The WP uses a 44 pin IDE interface, this includes power so you do not need an additional power cable.
Commonly available are 44pin ("laptop") to 40 pin("desktop") adaptors, that will include a black&red power cable from the computer to make a 40PIN connector + 5V&ground = 44 PIN connector. This adaptor would be useful for transfering files from, or setting up with, a regular 3.5" Hard drive.
make sense?
