IDE cable for CD-ROM & HDD question
Question about badflash.com cables

I am picking up a Virgin Webplayer tonight and have extended future plans for it. Please keep in mind I'm new to this hobby. First, I'm going to install a 2.5" 12mm hard drive I have at home for Windows 98 use. At the same time, I want to cut a hole in the side of the case and fabricate a way to mount a ThinkPad notebook CD-ROM drive in place. My only question regarding these two items is what cable to get. I noticed badflash.com sells cables for the Webplayer but it doesn't mention if that's one connector or two and doesn't seem to have an option for a custom-made Webplayer cable (only for I-Opener which has twisted wires). Does anyone know what cable I should order and, if badflash.com has an option for custom made Webplayer, what do you think I should tell him for length, positioning of connectors, etc (like he mentions on his site, example: "Red Stripe on the bottom, 18" cable with one connection at the left end pointing up and 2 connections at the right end pointing down"). Thanks for any help!

Thanks a lot for the link and info! It's very helpful. So badflash.com will custom fabricate cables that will work for Webplayers? Very nice. I'll contact him.

I do have one question, though. On your site, you say:

"Starting with the first connector, it runs 9 inches to the next connector. It should have been about 6 inches long. Continuing to the last connector it runs 13 inches. It does not need to be this long. If it were about 4 inches long, it would reach from the back of the CD-ROM to the Hard Drive."

My question is, is that saying the entire cable is 13 inches long or it's 13 inches from the second connector, plus the 9 inches from the first connector, making it a total of 22 inches?

uh, actually it's my site. The total cable length was about 22 inches as that was way more than I needed. I've clarified the language on that part of the site, so give it a fresh look.
