Problems playing AVI and DivX movies on the WP.

Ok, heres what I did:
Got and HDD and installed 98SE on it and the various WP drivers, some MP3s, and Scary Movie and The Matrix, and the DivX codec of course.
I booted the WP andcoulf not get sound to work, I didnt load the Windows CAB files. I said the heck with it and tried to see if movies would play. The Matrix played fine, however, scary movie in DivX would not play, with the codec installed. I though it might just be corrupted. But Scary Movie was also in a higher quality recording.
Then i put the Win98 cabs on the HD and got the sound working. But now, alas, The Matrix will not play. It loads and I can scroll to various frames with the slider, but it will not playback. Ideas anyone? The WP shoudl be powerful enough to play DivX/AVI movies, my 200Mhz comp with 16Mb RAM can. Is it the fact that Cyrix chips Sux00r?

I tried to play a few DiVX movies as well and the image was out of sync with the soundtrack. I thought it might be the processor speed but I think that the problem is the DiVx codec. There are several different DiVX codecs out there.

There's OpenDiVX, SMR DiVX, 3iVX and a few other codecs. I just started playing around with DiVX myself so if anyone else out there has more information, please let us know.

I must be living in outer space.. I thought that divx was more cpu intensive than mpeg2?????? if mpeg2 will only run on 300+ cpus, how is divx running on a 200?

Programmer...

I'm able to play DiVX files on my old desktop machine which is a 266 Pentium II.
The Webplayer plays these files but the sound and image are not in sync.

Let's NOT turn this into a DiVX forum.
For more info go to the DiVX-Digest.com help section.

Once we figure out if it works on the WebPlayer, then we can post a "How To" on this site.

Well, I've installed all the DiVX codecs I could find and the image and the soundtrack are still out of sync. I guess the 200MHz Cyrix chip just isn't fast enough to process the video. Funny thing is when I hit PAUSE and PLAY again, the video syncs correctly for a few seconds and then the video drops out of sync again.

LiquidCyanide, have you had any luck?

By the way, I've tried both Windows Media Player 7 and GDiVX video player (and my WP has 128mb of RAM)

Has anyone tried playing DiVX movies on an overclocked WebPlayer? Maybe that would solve the problem.
