Win98 asking for driver

Hi,

I'm trying to install Win98 for my Webplayer.

I have a laptop disk with the 40/44pins adapter.

I put the HDD in my PC and did the install of
win98. Everything went OK.

Now I put the disk in the webplayer it is
booting from the disk and then go into win98 but then It finds a lot
of new hardware and ask me for the drivers.

I have the drivers for the Video, Audio and Udma but It needs more than that.

What should I do ?

Copy the Win98 Folder from the Install CD to Your Hard Drive.
When it asks for anything, point it there.
I actually Install from this Folder. I Don't have a WebPlayer.

What you're trying to do can work; but is not at all recommended. When you install Windows it installs all kinds of drivers et al. that are based on the hardware you are currently installing on. It's much wiser to do the install in the Webplayer; and *SF* was on the right track. What you should do is put that hardrive back in your pc and format it with the /s switch (or you can issue the "sys <driveletter>" command after it's formatted) this will make your harddrive bootable (it will flash the logo.sys (Windows98 on clouds) screen and then give you a Dos-style command prompt. While the drive is still in your PC you should copy the Win98 directory from a Windows disc like *SF* suggests.(And maybe the Setup.exe program? I can't remember right now if it's in the Win98 folder or not) Then you stick the drive in the webplayer and get it to boot like you've already done but instead of booting Windows you'll just get the Dos-prompt. Now you can run Setup.exe and Windows will install the drivers it thinks the Webplayer needs rather than whatever your PC needed.
By the way make sure and stick anything else that your going to want on the webplayer (like your network drivers or those video, sound, udma drivers) while the harddrive is still in the PC because by experience I've learned that having to pull your webplayer back apart and put the HDD back in the PC again just to transfer a 15k file does not make you feel like your using your time wisely :)
Hope this makes sense. I know this forum is a little dead lately but there are some really knowledgeable people here and tons of good info like this in the old posts. Use the search function. Or, if you're stuck, you could email me at workfrogpc"at"hotmail.com
