windows wont detect modem

New Messagewindows wont detect modem (modified 0 times) Baxterzine

have wp with no doc, hd, win98. works with usb 10/100 adapter fine. was going to take with me on a trip this weekend and use with modem, put modem in and windows doesn't detect. if i instll manually still no go. have tried three different modems so i know it's not the modem. tried changes in bios and reset it just in case but still no luck.
any ideas?

You are using the Modem Applet in Control Panel ?
Device Manager is not the place for Modems Installs.
Delete (remove) All Modems. (this releases Resources for Your install)
You may need to do it More than once ? You may need to Delete all com ports? (but not the First Time or 2 !)
When You think You are Done Turn Off Your System & Reboot.
