I have 2 webplayers. The first one setup just fine..modem, video, sound all installed no problem. On my second one the modem will not be auto-recognized by windows and when I try a manual install it will not work properly. I try to manually install it as a standard 56000 w v90 but it doesn't work. So I am assuming that there is something physically wrong with the modem. So I was wondering if any of you guys who pulled your modems to fit in other stuff would be interested in selling yours. Ill pay $10 plus shipping to anyone who's willing to give me theirs. That is, unless someone on the board has any ideas on what I should try to get the damn modem to recognize.
You have 2 webplayers so have you tried swapping the modems?
You can inspect the modem board closely to see if there is any physical damage, for instance a loose connector.
Probably the modem chip is dead and replacing that will be quite expensive.
The modemboard is a hardware modem, so I won't let mine go for only $10.
An alternative will be that you look for a pci-modem to fit in the mini-pci slot.
There are different sources for those.
