Is it possible to solder a compact flash socket on the WP motherboard and use it as a disk drive in Win98 or Linux ?.

No clear answer to that yet.
This has been an issue before.
You can try the search function to find it.

Guys,
Check this out.... A club that I am a member of (TAPR) has a kit on their site that will let you do just as you are proposing. Check it out at:

I must say that I have one, and it works wonderfully with Linux or Win98! VERY COOL device!

These have been an issue before in this forum.
FYI: Other resources have these for less than half the price.

Regarding the 44pin IDE to Compact Flash (CF) adapters, if you know where these are available cheaper, could you please include a link or company name or something to get us started?

So I take it that no one has gotten the CF slot to work yet? I haven't had any luck yet either.
