Got my board fixed. The dirt on the mobile WP:
My goal is to make a battery powered sub-notebook, with as small a form factor as possible, with at least SVGA resolution, and with more features than a PDA. The WP motherboard is a good candidate, because the national chips are low power, a lot of hacking data, a fairly small form factor, and pretty cheap. Plus, they have audio for MP3, and the chip set supports a variety of TFT displays, video acceleration for MPEG/DVD, and power managment with instant on.
The main apps I have in mind are word processing, pdf reader, mp3 player, electronic organizer, and maybe dvd player(requires different lcd). I plan on running some form of win98lite on it.
The diminsions I am going for are 10"wide x 7"deep x 1" high. The parts list so far:
1)Mini keyboard with width less than 10". Found one on ebay, about 10 bucks, Item # 1652108105 if you want to see a pic. I think a mailstation keyboard would also work. Need a controller still, but have lots of old keyboards.
2)Touchscreen, Also found on ebay, about $,Item # 1288337835. I have no idea what the resolution is but cheap enough to take a gamble on.
3)144Meg DOC. On ebay for about $85. Biggest investment, havent't tried it yet, but I will find another use for it if it is too big. For power, I wanted to eliminate the harddrive.
4)40Meg pocketpc zip drive. Given to me.
5)Laptop battery. 10.8V, 3.6Ahrs. From an old laptop, still holds charge.
6)Charging/regulator circuit. Will probably custom make, I think?
7)Aluminum sheet metal for housing.
If anyone else is interested, I will post more on my progress later.
