I don't know what happened to my webplayer but it is now only showing that Virginconnect logo on the screen. I have a harddrive in the webplayer which appears to be working because I can hear it spinning. FYI, I haven't had the rom chip in the Webplayer anymore for a long time because the rom is dead. The harddrive was working fine on the webplayer. Now the webplayer won't boot off the harddrive and only shows the Virginconnect logo on the screen. The harddrive does boot when I put it in a desktop PC. I know this is a general description of the problem, but I don't know what happened and I don't know what a possible solution could be other than to turn the webplayer into a paperweight. Has anyone else encountered this problem and then later got their webplayer to again boot off the harddrive and go into windows (or whatever OS you have)?

I have (or had) 5 Webplayers. One of them refuses to recognize any hard drive I have tried and it won't even spin any of them up. I don't know what the answer to your problem is but maybe asking someone who is using a hard drive to sell you their DOC chip would at least restore it's functionality. I made an image based on the IE.img from famewolf that also includes Diamond USB HPNA ethernet support, Iomega zip and CDRW drivers, and AOL Instant Messenger. It only leaves about 2 megs of space but it works great for messing around on the net.

Thanks for your response. You got me thinking about how I think the problem occurred. Months ago when I had something like this happen but I had a good working ROM then and was able to resurrect the webplayer. I'm opening up an I-opener now. So I think I'll be selling the webplayer. So anyone reading this who wants an webplayer, go to the swap meet section.
