The LCD display of my webplayer is totally blank (but the backlit is on) after I installed a hard drive. I checked all the cable connections, they look OK. I can hear the hard drive spinning when I power up the machine. Everything was working perfectly before I put together all parts. What did I do wrong? Any suggestions? Thanks for your time.

There is a difference is 'looking OK' and 'being OK'.
The webplayer isn't booting probably. Is the green light on or does it stay orange (on the front of the webplayer) ?
Remove the disk and try to boot again, does this work?

I am having the same problem. It worked, then I installed a hard drive, then it didnt work! I removed the hard drive and just tried to get it to work the old way, but no go. When I turn it on, all the lights act as if it is turning on, but there is nothing on the display. I dont think i did anything to the screen, and I checked all the wires, and they look OK. What could I have done??? Please help me!!!

I guess I can allways return it to Ubid and say it never worked....

My Story:

I installed a hard drive and Win 98SE and everything was great. Installed great, ran excellent. I then was programming a hard drive for a friend so I took it apart again. Formatted his hard drive, but I was board when formatting so I took the LCD off of the monitor frame and looked at it. I unplugged the visual connector. (The one on the left side under the LCD, and I just plugged it back in. Now, when I try to start it with my hard drive that i know works, now when I turn power on, The hard drive spins up, green light comes on, back light comes on, speakers "click", holds for a second then the back-light turns off, yellow light, and does it all again. What do yall think? Please help! (Three of us)

I've got the same problem. In mine, it's definately the data cable connecting the LCD panel to the motherboard. I checked it with a multimeter, which verified that at least one pin wasn't making a connection, then I inspected it closer, and saw that one of the wires came loose. I tried soldering it back together, but that didn't seem to work. I think that I just need a new cable, but I have no idea where to get one.
Any ideas?

In my experience, the repeated green/yelow of the power light meant the unit was not getting sufficient power. I first ran in to this trying to make a new power cable for a web player. A cheap barrel-plug from Radio Shack wouldn't work, but a molded cable/barrel plug assembly from Mouser worked fine.

I just posted a new thread about the same problem trying to replace the power jac from the back of a player where the jack went bad -- trying to solder wires directly to the board isn't even working now.

You might check your power check for damage -- now I'm going to check the LCD cable tonight too !

I have the same problem. I've checked all the connects and they are good. Nothing I've read so far have been helpful. Can some one please help? If I can't get this thing working I'm just going to sell the thing. Do you think anyone would buy a non-working Webplayer? Or should I just sale it for parts?
