Smart Media to IDE?
Is there a smart media to IDE adapter?

I know they have something that will allow me to connect my compact flash card to an IDE port and use it like a hard drive, but is there such a thing that will allow me to do the same with smart media cards? Is this even possible? I like compact flash much better, but my digital camara uses smart media, and I would like to use my webplayer as a digital picture frame.

I just installed the USB drivers and it works like a charm. I'm running WinME on my Virgin from a 6gb hdd. The drivers are for Win98 & Win2K but I used the 98 drivers and they work fine. goto: http://www.microtechint.com/qs-usbcmate.html It uses both CompactFlash as well as SmartMedia. Cost me $40 from TigerDirect.com if I remember right, have had it for awhile.
Anyone know of a good Windows slide shower program? I have been using MGI PhotoSuite, but rather have something that will go straight into the slide show from an icon. MGI requires menus and setup..? Also if anyone has a suggestion about MP3 players, next project in the works, gotta be something better than Real Jukebox and WinAmp. I'd like to find a player that displays a library full screen (800x600)...
Keep on truckin', or hackin' or sit back and watch TV...

Just reread your message, and realized the mistake I made, IDE not USB. Duh. Oh well maybe someone else is looking for a USB-CF/SM device so I'll leave my reply up.

It is a bit expensive (~$100), but there might be a lower cost item elsewhere:

They are going to be expensive if you want IDE. Compact flash adaptors aren't that much because they are very close to IDE. But a smart media card is simply a IC, and each of the little pads on it corresponds almost exactly to the pins on a DIP IC, so you need interface logic, etc to let you use it.
