Harddrive power issues

I just got a WebPlayer off Ubid and tried to install a 2.5" HDD. It doesn't seem to be getting power, and from reading past posts it looks like others have had this problem. Is there some solution to getting power to the drive, or am I screwed.

Thanks,
Galway

I can power up two 4GB drives at the same time on my Webplayer using a dual drive cable. Each drive requires 500 milliamps (1 AMP total). So power is adequate.

Make sure the red line on the drive cable goes to pin 1 on the board, as well as, the drive.
I used four different drives on two players with no problems.

Your mileage may vary.

Two things... First off, if you put the cable on backwards, it's not going to spin up. (doesn't appear to damage the drive, but it won't spin.)

Secondly, the drive must work off of 5V power, which any notebook drive that you're using should. If you use a desktop IDE drive with an adapter, keep in mind that those are looking for the 12v power, so no, it won't power up unless you hook up an external PS to power the drive. (that's how I got mine flashed in the first place.)
