The original 64MB SODIMM was just too little for my applications - ZoneAlarm, AOL 7.0, NS6, etc. I ordered a 128MB SODIMM at http://www.oempcworld.com/item.jhtml?UCIDs=66527%7C1037393&PRID=968691

The spec is:
128MB 144pin SDRAM SODIMM 16Mx64 non ECC, gold, 3.3V, PC100 spec, 100 Mhz, CAS 2 latency, 1.15"

Just remove all (about 12?) the screws holding the board down. Pop out the 64 MB, Pop in the 128 MB.

I went with 128 instead of 256 because of the threads here and other GLXV-200 based systems as seen here http://www.advantech.com/products/PCM-5822.asp which kind of confirm the 128 MB limit (at least to me).

I tried out a 256 MB SO-DIMM from a toshiba laptop- it works. (at least the BIOS shows 256 MB)

it's a PC100 SDRAM module with CAS 2 latency.

this one matches the laptop, so it should probably work:

The 128MB memory chips that I ordered DO work in my two webplayers! The webplayers are happier.

When I tried a 256 and a 128 with the specs listed by NHSAM above I only registered half of the ram (128 and 64, resp) both in the bios and in windows. Does anybody know what I did wrong?

THe webplayer will not recognize chips larger than 16 Meg. SO, on a 128, you need to have 8 chips and 16 on a 256. If you are using 32 Meg chips, the webplayer will either see them as 16 or not at all.
I got the 16 chip 256 Meg from Crucial and it works great.

Thanks for the info. The 256 did have only 8 chips, but the 128 also has 8 chips. Are there any other reasons it would only register 64? It registers 128 in my laptop.

I'm thinking about getting 128 for my webplayer...does it really make much of a difference when just mostly web browsing?

I think it makes a difference. I didn't have too much memory left after bootup. I was having zonealarm, AOL AIM, and some other stuff preloading. There are less crashes.

This week at Circuit City, they have a 144pin 128mb so dimm ram for $13 after rebate. I got the same one last month, and it worked great, proved in the bios and windows. Check it out, in store and online store.
