Ok, I'm pretty damn sure I know what the problem is... I just can't find a way around it. Hopefully someone has figured this out and can shed some light.
I have a 2.1GB IBM notebook harddrive that won't work (so far) in my WP and for a very good reason. The drive is made of Jello... Ok, I made that part up.
The problem is that the drive doesn't seem to want to work in any mode other than 1024cyl/4x(heads)/LBA mode. It's SUPPOSED to support 4096cyl/1x(heads)/Normal, but I can't get the damn thing to work for beans. (all kinds of FAT problems, SCANDISK barfs on it constantly, etc. On the PC, mind you.)
The reason this is an issue is that the only setting I can seem to manage on the WP is 4096cyl/Normal mode. It CLAIMS to do LBA, but it won't let you select enough heads to create a valid configuration.
So I have two questions:
1) Anyone know of a way to jumper the drive to support the 4096/Normal mode it CLAIMS to do
2) Is there any way to update the bios on WP for better drive support?
Thanks,
