I was thinking of trying Opera 6 vs. IE5 stripped down. I am wondering if anyone has any yay's or nay's to say about this.

I installed the existing opera doc image and then installed opera 6 over it. I also went through the doc image and cleaned up the files that I did not need and I now have 33 mb free (compressed).

So to answer your question yes it work good.... better than the version 4 that was installed.

I installed opera 6.01 and stripped down IE5 .

I like opera better than IE5. It load fast and doesn't take a big space in memory.

ps: running on netvista IA, the same architecture as webplayer, except it has eth and CF slot.

I'm going to point out (again) that maybe the DoC makers should try k-meleon... it's a Mozilla .9 (full DHTML/XHTML etc compliant) browser that only takes up a couple of megs of space. It has better rendering than Opera, no ads, it's legal to redistribute, and it takes up fewer resources when it's running.

kmeleon sounds cool, but I can't get it to work. I keep getting a MFC42.DLL error, saying it can't find it.

Hmmm.
