Did a quick search and realized 256 MB hasn't been verified to work yet.. I successfully tested a module from a toshiba laptop.

Here's the buried post with more info:

The module I tested was a 16 chip PC100 with CAS 2 latency.

I too have a Toshiba laptop with 256 stick. I'll test it out in my Webplayer when it arrives. I do have a spare 128 stick from when I upgraded. Worse comes to worse I could just stick my 128 in there. When I have a need for more I'll get a 256 (if the one in my laptop works then I know for sure it will take).

Ok, bump!

I need to know for sure if this 256 SODIMM really works or not. The webplayer will be here in another day or two, and the ram is the last thning I need to get for it at this point. Anyone?

It shoud work if the 256meg sodimm is made up of 16 meg chips ie it has 8 chip on each side 16 chips total. The webplayer can only address a 16 meg chip.
hack your own you will love it more

I checked my laptop and I actually have 2 128meg sodimms. I thought I had 1 256 sodimm. Oh well. I'll test it out with 128meg and see how that performs.

One of the extra 256 meg sticks that I got from Crucial for my Dell Insprion 8100 went in fine, it had four "chips" on each side

Has anyone found a 256 that didn't work? I want to be 99% sure a SODIMM will work before i put a bid on it on ebay.
I am assuming any 144 pin SODIMM 128 meg will work?? (PC100/133)
