Now that we have free reign of these things I'd love to know if there's anything the less hack-savvy among us can do to help speed the process of getting these things to boot from a hard drive and get the ports working.

I don't know what anyone else thinks, but finding (cheap) mini pci cards would be super.

Go help with the "Webplayer setup password crack?" thread.

This hack, if successful, will let you dial out to any ISP using the Virgin OS.

Helping the effort is easy. You get to a secret screen, it gives you a challenge (a four digit number) and you have to reply with a response (another four digit number). Full details are in that thread.

Currently the theory is that the response is 2400 to 2599 less than the challenge, with a rollback at 0000 to 9999. But the exact rule is still a mystery.

You can play a guessing game and provide working pairs of numbers if you get lucky guesses. God knows we need the largest dataset we can get to hack this thing.
