I am a newbie here, so please be gentle. I have a webplayer on the way and can't find any info on this board about whether the modem is Caller ID capable or not. Would someone running windows be so kind as to test it for me. It is real easy to test using Hyperterminal. The directions are at this web page; http://www.talkingcallerid.com/CallerIDCapable.htm . Of course, you have to already be subscribed to caller id for the test to work. Thank you very much.
Hey this is cool! There is caller id on the Conexant modem using the at+vcid=1 setting!
Here is the HyperTerminal session. Of course, I xxxx out my cellphone number.

Damn, that was fast. It's great to find that out. Since telephones have small lcd screens, you have to pick them up and look at them to see who is calling. I figured with the right software, I can just glance over at the webplayer to see you is calling. I found a program called IdentaFone that does just that. Now is does cost $30 but the cool thing about it is that you can put a small client on all your networked computers and when a call comes in, it will show you who is calling on all the computers. Won't have to get up to see who is calling anymore. I can feel myself getting fatter already . Thanks for testing it for me.
