I bought some 3 feet of bulk cabe and 8 connectors for about the same price as the 10" pre-made cable.
you just need some patience and a small vice to crimp the connectors on. mounting the connectors square in relation to the cable was probably the hardest thing to do. Also, you need to make sure each connector is attached to the cable in the same direction, so pin 1 goes to pin 1 on the other connector, etc.
Correct me if I am wrong but can't you just go down the nearest puter store and buy any 44pin laptop ide cable?? It seems there is some cunfusion herehack your own you will love it more
