This is how I set mine up:
The RED line on the drive cable is next to the 'HDD' marking on the board.
With the webplayer front facing you, the cable is then unrolled to the right.
Then connect the other end to the drive. The RED line is next to the MASTER/SLAVE/CSEL pins.
If all is well, power up and listen for the drive motor to spin up.

10" cable was fine for me. There was more than enough for me in both webplayers. Webplayer #1 uses a 9.5mm ht drive and sits on top of the circuit board. Webplayer #2 uses a 12 mm ht drive and sits under the circuit board. !!!! Each drive is protected in a electrostatic discharge bag (those silvery-tinted bags that come with computer boards) against accidental shorting with the circuit board !!!
But as they say "your mileage my vary".
