I already serached the archives.
I'll begin with the question and give the sob story below: A laptop drive config to FAT32 without capability to uninstall win98, should I delete the windows directory and everything I don't need, or being that I had FORMAT C: prior to win98 install will I no longer have DOS on there to xcopy the win98 files again? (If that doens't make any sense read the sob story below to make heads or tails of my rambling). THANKS to anyone who can help...
I screwed up and while trying to set up my hard drive for attaching to my webplayer. I xcopyed the win98 files onto the laptop HDD while it was attached to my PC (via adapter). That all went smooth, unitl I tried to copy a bunch of files onto the drive as well. It wouldn't go, I messed around enough unitl I somehow screwed up and somehow copied all the contents of the other hard drive onto the new drive as well. The genius that I am, I decided to FORMAT C: Of course then I realized that xcopy no longer worked since I no longer had DOS. I then installed Win98 completely in hopes of getting DOS back on the drive. [however I set it up for FAT32 not knowing that I wouldn't be able to uninstall win98 afterwards]. While I have a working win98 I copied all extra files I wanted onto the C: drive. Can I just go into DOS delete the Windows dir and anything else I don't need and then xcopy the win98 WINDOWS\OPTIONS\CABS stuff again?

I am confused as to what you are doing... Can we assume that you have the following: Windows 98 boot diskette, WIN 98 CD, Win 98 manual, and can make the laptop drive the primary drive on the PC?
If so, then I think you can
-boot up on the diskette, (see "Using the start up disk" in your 98 SE manual. Pg 78)
-access the WIN 98 CD and find XCOPY.EXE,
-copy xcopy.exe from CD to diskette. (because it's handier to have it on diskette, IMHO)
-do a "format C: /s" on the laptop drive, assuming it is C:
-xcopy your WIN98 files from CD to the laptop drive.
-copy the webplayer drivers to the laptop drive via diskette.
-power down PC, remove laptop drive.
-install laptop drive to webplayer.

As a disclaimer, your mileage my vary...
