I just ordered a Webplayer and was wondering if anyone can give me good detailed instructions on how to install Win98. I am yet to find any sites with detailed info. I was also wondering where i should extract the drivers to on the HD. Any help would be appreciated.
What I do is connect the laptop drive via an adapter to a regular computer systems IDE. The cheapest place to get this adapter is compgeeks.com. Once connected to your regular computer you can fdisk it and format it from DOS. sys it ("sys d:" for example) to make the drive bootable to DOS. If the drive is big enough I copy a Win98 install cd to a subdir (Win98CD) on the laptop drive. I leave off the demos and other junk.
You'll also need to make the partition active so you can boot to it.
Put the laptop drive in the target machine, boot it to DOS, go to the Win98CD subdir and run setup.
The other advantage to this method is if you later install a new device and it asks you to insert the Windows CD you can just point it to the subdir on the hard drive.
