Where to get ibm notebook parts

In reference to this thread.

Ok, I'm looking to get the IBM mini pci ethernet card (IBM FRU# 06P3809).... however, I'm not sure I could obtain those card connectors or even preform the install.

So, I hunted around IBM's site and might have found the part that contains the right connectors for the ethernet card. I found it here at IBM's TP X22 - System FRU list

See index #6: that's the ethernet card.
see index #7: that's the connectors.

Now, the question is that I'm not sure how or where to obtain this part. I hunted around the net and surplus dealers, but no luck. Can anyone help? or am I even on the right track here?

If that is the correct part, I might just love you.

I used to work at MicroCenter and they have part manuals and can order just about anything. I still know a few of the techs there so I will swing by and see if I can order that part. I've got two webplayers I can install that part into (mine and a friends). If I can get the part ordered and it works, I will let you know. Keep in mind though it will probably take a month for me to get even the first one just to test it.

Slightly good news, slightly bad news.

I was able to find the part from www.4-parts.com. I had to call them to check, but they did have that part. However the part is $99.99. At that price, I am willing to take the time to make my own connector. I'll still check MicroCenter to see if 4-parts.com has a huge markup, but it seems darn expensive.

whoa, $100?... I was hoping it'd be in the $10 to $20 range. Hope things are better with MicroCenter. Thanks for checking it out for us.

I also found just the cable connectors (without the jacks) here at: IBM's TP A30/p, A31/p - System FRU parts list
