I can't get the web player to see my hard drive

I recently got a webplayer from uBid, and here is my problem. I took a laptop hard drive adaptor I have (the kind for plugging laptop harddrives into desktops). I attached it to the web player (because I don't have a laptop IDE cable) and I know it's in straight because it's keyed just like the web player. Anyway, attached to that this an IDE cable connected to a hard drive and a cd drive (both of which I know are good). I'm useing a spare PS to power the harddrive and CD, I can hear them spin up and everything. But I can NOT get the webplayer's BIOS to see them. I have enabled the IDE ports (where is the second one, anyway?), hard drive predelay is off. I've messed with the boop up options to turn off quickboot and to show more info, but it just says that nothing is attached. It doesn't matter if it's set to auto, user, or what. Can anyone give me advice? I could post pictures and such if it would help, but I would prefer that to be more of a last resort. When the thing boots, after the bios the screen goes blank with a little flashing "_" in the top left, never does anything else (i've temporarily removed the DOC).

If the BIOS does not see the drive, and you have enabled the IDE, there is usually something wrong with the connection. Did you try just the HD by itself? Do you know for sure that the adapter and cable are good?

If all that checks, and you are sure you have connections correct, you might have a bad webplayer.

oh pardon
besides what i said before ,you also need to set the primary adapter to auto in bios and make sure the bios is also set to dos access mode and win95 as the operating system in other setting and that its also set to boot from primary ide channel.than also remove the cdrom till after you have the harddrive working. now if the hardrive can be set to master do so if not try leaving it on cable select, but if its on cable select already and the cdrom is atatched that may be the cause of the problem.
