Hi. I have recently received a Boundless Webplayer via uBid and just got around to installing Linux on it. I tried RedHat 7.3, but always stopped during install with errors. So I went to Mandrake 8.2 and that install worked perfectly. I did the initial install on my laptop and then moved the HD over to my Webplayer. I disabled USB and SOUND since neither were detected. Now when I try and launch XFree86 (v3.3.4 I believe, with KDE v3), I get the "No device found; no screens found error." I found someone's XF86Config file on the net at: http://virgin-linux.sourceforge.net/cgi-bin/ax.cgi?/XF86Config and put this in the /usr/X11 directory (after backing up the original.) This time, I get the "No configured graphics devices" error and a message "You must provide a "Screen" section in XF86Config for at least one of the following graphics drivers: accel".

Anyone shed some light on this? Why do I need a configured accel Screen? Does anyone have a XF86Config they'd like to share? Thanks!

You can get it to work just using XFdrake, although you may find you want to edit the file that generates.

800x600 screen
8 bit color (this may be where you're hitting problems)
vga adapter, I believe

set the screen to be an 800x600 generic LCD

All this worked for me under Mandrake 8.2

If you check the page in my sig it has links to a number of sites that have XFree86 setup files too.
