I happened upon a 144MB DOC and after a _lot_ of work (there Must be an easier way!) I have a full install of win98se with ie 5.5 sp 2 with the network drivers for the intel net card from the boundless "cable" version of the webplayer, and the cyrix drivers for the chipset. It is, necessarily, a compressed drive and has about 45MB free. Does anyone have interest in this image? If so, does someone have a place to put it?

Probably would be cheaper to get a IDE to compact flash converter, and a larger compact flash card as your disk if you want something solid state, but larger.

It might be less expensive to use a compact flash. I am using one for a webplayer with FreeBSD on it. I could just be influenced by marketing, but I feel the constant disk accesses Windows performs would quickly wear out a compact flash, and supposedly the m-systems true-fs takes care of that issue by rearranging "sectors". Of course I have no actual proof of that...

Instead of "constant disk accesses" I meant "constant disk writes" - ie5.5 cannot be made to not save viewed pages to disk (except for encrypted ones.)

I don't know what happened to the gct site above. I added another CF to my webplayer/website, so I can host the image myself: http://jpe45305.homeunix.org/dl
It is just a webplayer, so be kind and try another time if it seems slow! :)

There is a 144MB DOC on ebay right now for $60.00 Buy-it-Now. This is the third chip he has had on eBay, I got one, and the other just finished. Auction ends on 10-20-02, 14:54:47 PDT. Below is the link.
