OK - I popped out the 'disk-on-chip', swiped the 6GB laptop drive out of my WebSurfer and plugged it into my WebPlayer. Used the Bios Password 'schwasck' to enter the bios - enabled the ide port and messed with a few other settings that seemed appropriate (If needed, I can go into my bios and supply in this thread exactly what settings I have, but it's 2:30am and I need to sleep first).
It works (mostly). Windows 98SE comes up - it found almost all the hardware - it seems to plug'n'play ID the sound card, but all I get for sound is a click. I have tried audio setups in the bios of Default and 'automatic'. Same result.
It can't find drivers for the modem. It found the floppy controller (I disabled it later). It claims to have found a 800x600 laptop display and a generic vga display adaptor - but all I can get with some inital fiddling is 640 x 480 in 16 colors. I plugged my Philips USB speakers in and they work fine - winamp is playing now (a bit jerky). I also plugged in my USB ethernet adaptor and can transfer data over my LAN and can access the internet over my DSL connection.
Once in the bios you can change the bios password to whatever you want, but if you attempt to 'clear' the password (entering return with the new password field blank), it will automatically revert to 'schwasck'
So can someone help me with the sound and video?
