Just how bad is the dual scan?
Curious about its performance in a car.

I have a 1700 series compaq laptop that I use for my GPS system in my truck, and I've been contemplating buying one of these and setting it up for that. What I'm wondering is, will the screen perform "decently" during the day? My 14.1" TFT isn't all that great in day light, ok it down right sucks.

Can someone with one of these in their car tell me how it performs during daylight? And also, is there a mini-pci to pcmcia converter?

I'd say, its not that bad. What is noteable good about the screen performance is that the adjustment range is wide. I mean, turn the dial, and the screen adjusts to a lot of different light conditions.

The other limitation to note, in my subjective opinion, the screen does not view well when you viewing it at an angle. That is you'd need to point the screen with GPS where the drive could see it without too strong of an angle.

Don't let anyone fool you, the Webplayer has a very cheap dual scan. About an inch from the edge on both sides it is always brighter than the rest of the screen. It does not look too bad when nothing is moving, the mouse pointer always looks like the trails option is on. It can not handle movement at all. I've never had it in the sunlight.

like they said, the dual scan is not-bad for still images, But motion.... it sucks the big one.
I'd compare it to a color version of a philips pronto (ts1000) screen, if you've seen those.
