Another look at portability...

I have seen many posts about using alternative power sources to achieve poratbility. But I am not looking to take my webplayer to a beach or on a long drive. All that I want to be able to do is to be able to move my WP little bit around the house while in the middle of doing something (don't want to shutdown and restart). So the power and broadband connection are of course the problem. Though using a very long power cord and network cable will work, that is not elegant.

I will be needing a battery backup only for a few seconds or at the most a minute or so, to move it to a different location in my house and reconnect the AC, so is it possible to put WP in suspend mode and use some NiMH AA batteries to sustain the minimum power requirements during that time? Is the voltage requirement much less during this time? I have no tools or expertiese to determine this myself. Of course, another thing that needs to be done is to smoothly transfer the power from external power to battery and then back to external. Any thoughts will be greatly appreciated.

For broadband connection, I already have a router, but not wireless, so I am considering the option of using HomePNA adapter and a bridge option. I haven't looked at the cost factor, if buying a wireless accesspoint + usb adaptor will be cheaper than this option (it may be a better option too, but I am more concerned about the cost). Please post your thoughts.

Thanks a lot,
Hari

I've been looking into building a cheap solar powered unit from this place...
http://www.plastecs.com/solar_cells.htm
If you follow down to the middle of the page look at the WB-28 and WB-29 cells. Could easily be soldered together and get us the power we need to push this thing. Price isnt too bad either :) Anybody else think this would be a feasable idea?
