There are no "dealers" for webplayers. They have been discontinued for years. They are all second hand, pretty much only available on ebay. I guess you could have called boundless through ubid a dealer, they sold hundreds of them, but they are finished selling them.

There is at least one guy I know of with a @boundless email address selling the refurbs... He is $85 per unit...

The guy I bought from had just cleared a batch of fresh refurbs... It appears to me as though boundless are still letting these go...

I have one I've been thinking about selling. It has all the mods done to it, runs at 233MHz with mini fan and jumper selectable speeds, It's "battery powered"(completed the step down converter and is powered by a 12V battery) and gets around three hours usage. Has a 2.6 gig hard drive. No DOC, just modem. I've since been messing around with the GCT which is also battery powered and wireless. I have since lost interest in the Webplayer. If interested make offer at dsptech2@earthlink.net.

What kind of a 12V battery?

Thanks!

It's a SLA battery. It has a pouch and a carrying strap that you can sling over your shoulder. It can be recharged from a power brick or cigarette lighter adater. It also has a 110 Volt power inverter so you can use it to power other devices. Here's a pic... Battery Step-down converter

I have one of those batteries too...it works quite nicely with the webplayer, although I am using the regular power brick plugged into the inverter, which isn't very efficient. Where did you get that 12v step down converter?

Actually I was thinking about listing it on Ebay as a package.
It adds a bit to the Webplayer and I don't want to have to sell them seperatley.
Always nice to have a spare.

Be careful selling DC-DC converters. All you need is for some idiot to buy it, burn his house down, and then come hunting you down blaming your DC-DC converter started it all!

I know they can get real hot but I added a huge Heatsink that doesn't require a fan and enclosed it in a nice project box so it's safe.

DSPTECH11,

I think that there is a lot of interest in the stepdown converter.

I have purchased some parts to put together a converter using the Maxim 724 chip. Did you use that chip? What is your output voltage (there has been some question as to what the appropriate output voltage is)? What did you use for the R1 and R2 to get that output voltage? Also, how about the capacitor and inductor selection?

When using a 12VDC to 110VAC converter with the webplayer power supply I get lots of interference when playing MP3's in the car. What is your experience with your system in the car? Is your converter adequately filtered to avoid this problem?

What amperage output does your setup allow? I have a CdRom, HardDrive, Not overclocked, and have left the modem in place so there is a fair amount of current needed.

How has your overclock experience been? Did it make the processor flakeir that usual? Did you try any of the higher than 233 setups? Is the improvement in performance noticeable / worth it? If I overclock I guess that will require a fan and added current draw.

Would you be willing to post your converter circuit diagram and parts list?

Thanks in advance for your reply.

simba
